Silverware
French silverware owes its prestige to a long tradition of goldsmithing and one of Europe's most rigorous hallmarking systems. The Minerva hallmark, applied since 1838, guarantees the fineness of solid silver; the major silver-plate manufacturers, meanwhile, applied their own marks to the most refined tableware.
