Christofle "Ondulations" Champagne Bucket – Luc Lanel – Pattern Created for the SS Normandie – Art Deco

€1.650,00

This silver-plated champagne bucket, "Ondulations" pattern, bears the signature of Luc Lanel for Christofle in the 1930s.

This iconic pattern of French Art Deco was created by Luc Lanel for Christofle for the first-class services of the SS Normandie, a true symbol of French luxury and refinement between the wars.

The tapering body is girdled at its lower part by bold horizontal mouldings in relief, the "ondulations" that give the pattern its name, while the upper part remains smooth and polished. Two flat stepped handles echo the rhythm. A resolutely modern aesthetic that perfectly illustrates Luc Lanel's work for Christofle.

This example bears the Christofle house hallmarks under the base. It does not carry the CGT monogram and is therefore offered as an example of the Ondulations pattern, rather than as a piece from the Normandie's onboard service.
