Pair of seven-light gilt bronze candelabra with cupids, 19th century

€6.800,00

Pair of seven-light candelabra in gilt bronze, Louis XVI style. French work of the 19th century.

On each candelabrum, a winged cupid sits on a cylindrical pedestal and embraces the central stem. The pedestal is dressed with garlands of flowers and fruit held by a ribbon bow, set off by a beaded band and a frieze of leafy medallions. It stands on a canted base decorated with acanthus rosettes.

Six scrolling acanthus arms, linked by floral swags, surround a central light. The candle cups are chased with gadroons and foliage. The chasing is fine, especially on the wings, the hair and the garlands.

A spectacular pair that commands attention on a mantelpiece, a console or a dining table.
