Christofle "Perles" Covered Vegetable Dish – Louis XVI Style – Silver-Plate

€430,00

This covered vegetable dish in silver-plate belongs to the Perles collection by Christofle, one of the House's great classic patterns inspired by the Louis XVI style.

Its decoration is built on the row of beads, an emblematic motif of late 18th-century Neoclassical taste. It outlines the rim of the dish as well as the edge of the lid and encircles the base of the finial. The round body, smooth with a mirror polish, lets the shine of the silver-plating take centre stage.

The two rectangular side handles are sheathed in water leaves on either side of a central beaded ring, and rest on leafy mounts. The domed lid is topped by a finial shaped as a bud of stylised leaves, set on a beaded base.

The piece is signed CHRISTOFLE FRANCE under the base and bears the hallmark with the chess knight and the letters OC, used by Christofle from 1935. The absence of the number I or II, added to this hallmark from 1983, places its manufacture between these two dates. The marks are visible in the photographs.

Condition: pre-owned piece in good overall condition; this is not a new item. The silver-plating is intact on all visible surfaces. There is a small spot of silver wear under the base, which cannot be seen when the dish stands on the table, and a small scratch of about 1 mm on the lid. The piece also shows a few micro-scratches from use, consistent with its age, mostly visible under the base. Condition is shown in detail in the photographs.

It naturally completes a Perles table service and is as suited to everyday use as to large gatherings.
