Christofle Atlas – Set of 24 Dessert Flatware Pieces – Luc Lanel – Normandie – Silver-Plated
Christofle – Atlas Collection – Luc Lanel – SS Normandie
This set of 24 Christofle Atlas dessert flatware pieces brings together 12 forks and 12 spoons in silver-plate.
Created in 1933 by Luc Lanel, then artistic director of Christofle, the Atlas pattern is closely tied to the legendary ocean liner SS Normandie. This Art Deco pattern was notably designed for the first-class dining room tables of the liner.
With its clean, geometric lines typical of the 1930s, Atlas is today one of Christofle's historic patterns associated with the golden age of the great French ocean liners.
According to the house's official display, the pattern remained in the Christofle catalogue from 1934 to 1968, so this flatware dates from the late 1960s at the latest. The terminal is simply outlined with a thread. The set comes in its Christofle case.
