Its hallmark dates its manufacture to before 1935.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIts round shape with two flat side handles follows that of the covered écuelles of 18th-century French silverware. The design belongs to the Régence style: a regular scalloped outline highlighted with moulded reeding, and two symmetrical handles shaped as gadrooned shells.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe rim of the dish and the edge of the lid follow the same reeded outline, giving the piece a strong unity once closed. The domed lid, smooth with a mirror polish, is topped by a button finial decorated with a rosette, set on a gadrooned collar. The finial is held by a nut, visible inside the lid.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eUnder the base is the Christofle lozenge hallmark with the initials CC and the scales, surrounded by the words MÉTAL BLANC, used by the House until 1935. The piece also bears the CHRISTOFLE cartouche, the numbers 2 and 8 struck in two squares, an oval mark and the serial number 2450919.
